Due to cutbacks in the Worcester school system, there have not been adequate funds for a paid librarian for some time. Therefore the livelihood of the library so depends on the support of our volunteers and donors!

We need parents to accompany classrooms to the library. Signups will be at the first PTO meeting in September. While the school makes every attemp to have weekly classroom library visits, often times parents will share this duty so their commitment is only an hour weekly or bi-weekly. Please consider taking the time to help a classroom or two. If you cannot commit to library time on a regular basis, the library is ALWAYS in need of having books refiled and put in order. Please stop in as your time permits.

Hi Library Volunteers,

Thank you all for volunteering in the library this year. The library will be open for class visits on Tuesday, October 11th. Mrs. Daley has informed me that MAP testing will be done around the library schedule, so we will not have to close.

Attached is the Library Volunteer Schedule. Please look it over to make sure your information is correct. All volunteers must have an up to date CORI check. Volunteers for each class are responsible for making a rotating schedule for covering their library visits (you can work alone or in pairs). If you are unable to come in on your scheduled day and there is no replacement, please contact me at chaz@charter.net or at 508-853-2112. I will be available to train and assist new volunteers during the first week of library (October 11 – October 17).

Although many of you have volunteered in the library before, there are several new names on the list. Therefore, I’d like to mention a few important things to help classroom visits run smoothly.

*Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your classroom visit. This will give you time to prepare due date cards and begin checking in any books returned by students

and/or teachers.

*When checking out books, please remember to put room numbers on the due date cards. Room numbers can be found on the teacher’s routing sheet taped on

the check out desk. Please cross out any old due dates.

*Please place any damaged books in the gray crate, located on the floor, behind the check out desk.

The Library Volunteer Guide (black binder) will be on the back table, behind the check out desk. This guide will help with any library procedure questions you may have.
