Due to cutbacks in the Worcester school system, there have not been adequate funds for a paid librarian for some time. Therefore the livelihood of the library so depends on the support of our volunteers and donors!

We need parents to accompany classrooms to the library. Signups will be at the first PTO meeting in September. While the school makes every attemp to have weekly classroom library visits, often times parents will share this duty so their commitment is only an hour weekly or bi-weekly. Please consider taking the time to help a classroom or two. If you cannot commit to library time on a regular basis, the library is ALWAYS in need of having books refiled and put in order. Please stop in as your time permits.

LIBRARY CLOSED FOR MAPS TESTING

Ms. Loftus has just informed us that MAPS testing will take place from May 24th -June 16th.  May 28th is the last day students can check out books.  All books must be returned by June 4th.  Please follow up with those students who have overdue books by sending overdue notices home with them.  The library will be open after 12:00 during testing.  Those classes who have morning library time (Snell, Meagher, Emery, Quitadamo and DeCiccio) can try to reschedule visits for the afternoon.  Please check the library schedule posted on the door of the library for open time slots after 12:00.

Also, we will begin cleaning the library on June 7th.   If you have some free time, please stop by to help check in books and straighten up bookshelves.

LIBRARY CLOSED FOR MCAS TESTING

MCAS testing is scheduled from May 10 - 19.  Mr. Kelley said we can open the library for class visits after 12:00 each day during testing.  You may want to check with your teachers to make sure they want to come in for their library time. Those classes who have library time prior to noon will not have visits during MCAS - Snell, Meagher, Emery Quitadamo and DeCiccio.

The last day students can check out books will be Friday, May 28.  All books need to be returned by Friday, June 4.  This will give us a couple of weeks to reshelve books and clean the library.  Please send out overdue notices for books ASAP.  The notices can be found in the Library Guidebook on the table behind the check out desk.  For a lost book, there is a $5.00 fee or we request that the book be replaced.

LIBRARY CLOSED DUE TO MAPS TESTING & BOOK FAIR

The library will be closed from January 26th thru February 25th for MAPS testing. It will also be closed March 5th through 12th for the Scholastic Book Fair.

CLASSROOM/VOLUNTEER SCHEDULE FOR 2009-2010

Click here for the classroom schedule for this school year. Volunteer signups were held at the PTO meeting in September. Please consider helping with your child's room or another. Helping is simple and may encompass reading a book to the students (usually the younger grades), helping them check out library books and reshelving the ones that are returned. This is as rewarding to the parent as it is to the children!

Library begins the week of October 26th.

Please contact library chairs Peggi Harris or Karen Naylor above for more information.
