The Enrichment Committee finds appropriate performers and hosts them at the school. "We try to have a balance of age-appropriate, curriculum-enriching events for all grades and subject areas. In the past, we have enjoyed storytellers, raptors, wild animals, writers, mad scientists, singer/songwriters, actors, historical figures, drummers and guitarists at the school." according to enthusiastic former Committee Chair Allison Hansen.
ENRICHMENT IN FULL SWING
Author Susan Bosak spent a day and evening at Nelson Place on October 20 and was well received by students, teachers and parents. Storytelling program, Big Ryan's Tall Tales, will be at school the morning of October 28 to do two presentations: One to kick off the annual Books and Beyond program for the younger kids and the other to kick off the TRIPP reading program for our older students (thanks to Jill Andros and Karen Naylor for organizing the special reading programs this year!) Enrichment is happy we can back them up with this programming!
As the holidays approach, there are so many classroom activities and special celebrations that Enrichment programming will be taking a break. However, we will be back after the Holidays with some great events! Keep your eyes open for future presentations.
DREAM DISCOVERY PROJECT DATE CHANGE TO OCTOBER 20TH
Monday, October 20th, we will be welcoming author Susan Bosak who brings us the "Dream Discovery Project". She helps children identify their dreams and begin figuring out how to make them come true. She will work with our students during the day, and will be offering a workshop for parent the same evening. You may pre-order books and have them personalized prior to the evening if you choose. Please contact Gretchen Switzer at 508-852-7413 or Switzers4@verizon.net if you have any questions.
FALL ENRICHMENT OFF AND RUNNING!
Our school enrichment program is starting off with a bang this fall. Our first visitor will be "Gary the Clown" who does character education with students using humor and creativity. He will be at NP from September 15th thru September 26th. On Thursday, October 9th, we will be welcoming author Susan Bosak who brings us the "Dream Discovery Project". She helps kids identify their dreams and begin figuring out how to make them come true. She will work with our students during the day and will be offering a workshop for parents that same evening. More information will be coming home on both these events via the "backpack express". Any questions, please contact Gretchen Switzer at 508-852-7413 or Switzers4@verizon.net.
